Kirby-Bauer test for antibiotic susceptibility

Certain bacteria can be display resistance to one or more antibiotics.Determining bacterial antibiotic resistance whether a bacterium can survive in  the presence of an antibiotic is critically important part of management of infectious diseases in patients.
Kirby-Bauer test known as the disk diffusion method or technique which  is the most widely used in antibiotic susceptibility test in determining for the  choice of antibiotics. This method is most common method for antibiotic resistance or susceptibility testing. The result of these test help physicians to choose the antibiotic.
The Kirby-Bauer test utilizes small filter disks impregnated with a known concentration of antibiotic. The Disks are placed on a Mueller-Hinton agar plate, that is inoculated with the test microorganisms.
