The ICMR PhD entrance exam, also known as the ICMR JRF exam, is a national-level test conducted by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) for admission to PhD programs in medical and biomedical fields . The exam consists of 150 multiple-choice questions, with a total of 125 questions that need to be attempted ². The ICMR JRF syllabus is divided into three subjects
- General Aptitude: This section is compulsory for all candidates and consists of 50 questions covering general science, statistics, and measurement.
- Life Sciences: This section is optional for biomedical science students and consists of 100 questions, out of which candidates must answer 75.
- Social Sciences: This section is optional for biomedical science students and consists of 100 questions, out of which candidates must answer 75.
The General Aptitude section includes
- Common Statistics: Experiments and sampling, probability, description, and displaying data, linear regression, and correlation, and hypothesis test and confidence intervals
- General Knowledge: Synthetic material, nuclear science, measurements, scientific phenomenon like hurricane, tsunami, greenhouse effect, wind, tornado, earthquakes, volcano, rain, snow, and erosion
